The 2016 Kickapoo Lady Chiefs Golf season is here. The Varsity team includes returning seniors Aristelle Acuff (2015 Class 2 State Runner-up), Alison Pool and Meagan Good. They are joined by junior Alayna Haenig and freshman Katy Finke. The JV Team members are Kaylee Ward (junior), Scotlyn Belew (sophomore), Paige Rudolph (sophomore), Sydney McGee (sophomore), and Kayla Morris (sophomore).
First Week of Season ends with a Double Championship
The Lady Chiefs tee'd off their season on Wednesday Aug. 24 at the Camdenton Lady Lakers Invitational at the Lake Valley Golf Club in Osage Beach. The field consisted of 19 teams with a total of 94 players throughout the state of Missouri. The size of the field and the challenging course made for a long, but good day for the Chiefs to get in their first competition of the season. While the Chiefs did not place as a team (the tournament was won by Columbia Rockbridge), senior Ari Acuff finished 2nd individually with a score of 75.
The Chiefs were back on the course the next day with both Varsity and Junior Varsity playing in the Seymour Invitational at Whispering Oaks in Marshfield. The previous round in Camdenton must have paid off as the Varsity team (left to right above) of Katy Finke, Alayna Haenig, Ari Acuff, Coach Angie Odom, Meagan Good and Alison Pool captured first place in the team competition in the field of 18 teams. Ari Acuff took home individual medalist honors over the field of 90 players by a sizeable 11 stroke margin - shooting an even par 70. Congratulations to all. Sep. 1, 2016
At the MSU Relays held at the Payne Stewart Golf Course in Springfield, MO, the Kickapoo Lady Chiefs captured third place in the 14-team, 76 golfer field, just one stroke behind 2nd place Glendale. Ari Acuff lead the Chiefs with a tournament best round of 77, earning her 2nd medalist honors in as many tournaments after last week's victory at the Seymour Invitational in Marshfield. Helping the team to their third place finish were personal best competition rounds for Alison Pool (96) and Meagan Good (98). Congrats to both on breaking that elusive 100 barrier. Freshman Katy Finke (101) and Alayna Haenig (117) rounded out the varsity scoring. The Kickapoo JV team of Scoytlyn Belew (106), Kaylee Ward (110), Paige Rudolf (112), Sydney McGee (127) and Kayla Morris (Injured Reserve) finished 11th of the 14th teams. Great playing girls. Lastly, a big KHS Lady Chiefs shout-out and thanks to Missouri State University Women's Golf Coach Kevin Kane for hosting the tournament, getting lunch for all the participants and handing out the awards. Thanks Coach! |

KHS Lady Chiefs Golfer, Ari Acuff, Named Athlete of the Week
Aug 31, 2016
Each week during the school year the Ozarks Sports Zone recognizes one Ozarks-Area athlete as their pick for Athlete of the Week. Their first pick for the 2016/2017 year is Ari Acuff. Not only is it a great recognition for Ari (especially during football season), but also for girls golf as the talent and athleticism of golfers continues to grow. Their article and video are linked below. Congratulations Ari and best of luck to you and the KHS Lady Chiefs Golf team this year. We'd thought we'd share one of Ari's early golf pictures and a more recent photo of Ari and the KHS Lady Chiefs Basketall team on their way to a Class 5 State Championship this past season. www.ozarkssportszone.com/Athlete-of-the-Week-Ari-Acuff-Kickapoo-Golf/22861518 |
Again this year, the Kickapoo Lady Chiefs supported the PGA Web.com tour and local charities across the Ozarks. Twenty-five volunteers from the KHS Lady Chief golfers and their families were marshals (and recording long drive stats for the PGA) for the 17th hole of the Web.com Price Cutter Charity Championship held at Highland Springs Country Club August 10 - August 14. In total, they contributed over 250 volunteer hours during that time. Last year, the PCCC distributed over $1 million to Ozarks area charities. We'll help them beat that record this year. A big thanks to the team and their boosters. http://pricecuttercc.org/
